Terrible news both for Wanderers and Stuart Holden. After his recovery from the Aston Villa Carling Cup match wasn't as expected, he underwent exploratory surgery which revealed cartilage damage. This needed to be repaired and as a result it is now estimated Holden will be unavailable until at least March.

Owen Coyle ended up making some changes at The Emirates Stadium this weekend - Ngog started up front in a 4-5-1 and Gary Cahill's illness saw David Wheater start at centre half. However fortune intervened and Ngog had to be substituted after half an hour with concussion. Nevertheless things were working - the game was 0-0 at half time - until Van Persie scored at the beginning of the second half then the wheels pretty much fell off. Wheather was sent off for a very marginal contact with Theo Walcott when the last man (to say Walcott 'made the most' of it is being very charitable to him) andWanderers ended up losing 3-0, with Va persie getting a second and Song getting a late third.
Sometimes you don't play well and get what you deserve. Sometimes, you just don't have any luck. This was more one of the latter, in my opinion.

Well this makes things interesting. Owen Coyle made 9 changes from his previous team selection for the Carling Cup second round tie away at Aston Villa, changing almost all the team and the formation they played in. Villa put out a strong side yet Bolton still came out 2-0 winners, with excellent goals from Chris Eagles and Gael Kakuta. Bear in mind Bolton haven't won an away match in the Premier league in… well, ages. Stuart HOlden also returned to first team action form his knee injury.
So, this raises lots of questions. If the 'second' team plays much better than the first team, will Coyle make changes for the game away at Arsenal this weekend? Will he change from 4-4-2? Which of his much criticised 'first 11' will find themselves ousted by those who performed so well in midweek? As I said.. interesting.

Excuse the lack of updates, I've been away. In fact, the news Wanderers wise has been pretty poor. Firstly, Bolton were beaten 5-0 at home by Manchester United. Rooney got a hat-trick and Hernandez got two.
Then this weekend Bolton went down 2-1 to Norwich City, and slipped down the table to 19th, only staying off the bottom of the table on goals scored. Norwich scored two in the first half from Pilkington and Johnson before Klasnic was sent off on half time for a headbutt on Tierney. In the second half Klasnic scored a good penalty after Ngog was fouled by Barbett.
