A game most definitely of two halves..

This was probably a game Bolton should have won, and in the process opened a 7 point gap between themselves and the bottom three places. Due to yet another injury time goal, they had to settle for a draw which left the situation more or less unchanged.

In the firest half Bolton played well, Gardner and Mendy operating as wing backs and worrying the Brom defense with aggressive running. Indeed a surging run by Mendy got the ball to Djorkaeff at the edge of the box. His bobbling shot was palmed away by Hoult, but he only managed to palm it into the path of Pedersen who finished easily from 5 yards out. Bolton had the best of the first half but failed to make the best of teh chances they had.

In the second half, the situation was muc reversed. Bolton sat back and/or were penned back by a much more insistent Baggies performance. Gregan hit the post on the hour and West Brom were playing with much more effort. Ballesta and Andre came on but they could make little difference as Bolton could hardly get out of their half. In the end, deep in injury time, Johnson got to the ball in a goalmouth scramble and poked it into the goal from close in.

And so it was. West Brom rescues a point and, arguably, kept their season alive for a while longer. Bolton let a chance to greatly enhance their cahnces of survival slip through their hands and have no one to blame but themselves.
